TaskRabbit is an online and mobile marketplace that matches freelance labor with local demand, allowing consumers to find immediate help with everyday chores such as cleaning, moving, delivery and construction work. Basically, think of an application that allows you to find people who will do the chores you don’t want to do (a child’s dream come true).

This company was founded in 2008 by Leah Busque. TaskRabbit’s origins began on a cold night in Boston in February of 2008 when Leah Busque realized she was out of dog food for her golden retriever. Leah thought to herself, “Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a place online I could go to connect with my neighbors — maybe one who was already at the store at that very moment — who could help me out?”

From this moment on, the idea for TaskRabbit was born. Fully vetted, entrepreneurially-minded professionals contribute their time and skills to help busy people find extra time in their days to do the things they love. The main concept behind this innovative, yet old school idea is neighbors helping neighbors.

Once again, the sharing economy has led to another amazing idea coming to fruition and becoming a large company based in San Francisco with over 51+ employees. Next time I need to build a table or bed, I will definitely utilize the amazing app known as TaskRabbit to assist me with any needs I have!
